Preserve Your Recorded History Before It's Gone, and Unlock Its Full Value
We digitize, preserve, and help you manage your collection of video tapes, audio recordings, discs, and film, to the highest professional standard.
Not Stored
Every day your collection sits untouched, you lose a little more of what's on it.
Tape, film, and discs break down, and you can't see it coming. They look fine in the box, but heat, humidity, and the way they've been stored are quietly deciding how fast they go.
And it's not just the tape. The machines that play these formats are vanishing, and parts are no longer made. So the day you finally decide to bring it back, there may be no deck left to play it on, and the recording itself harder to recover.*
There's no second copy. No reshoot. You don't just lose the recording. You lose everything you could still have done with it.
You don't have to let that happen.
Find Out What's at Risk*UNESCO and the world's audiovisual archivists named 2025 the year transferring old tape stops being routine. That deadline is already here.
Imagine your collection finally safe, in hands you can trust, done the way it should be.
Let the Worry Lift
No more wondering whether the tapes will still play, or whether you waited too long. Your collection is captured at full quality, protected, and future-proof.
Put It in Trusted Hands
Handled personally by the people major labels, studios, and world-class artists have trusted for more than 30 years. Treated the way you'd treat it yourself.
Unlock Hidden Value
It doesn't stop at saved. We help you explore what's inside, bring the pieces you choose up to today's standards, and turn them into something new, ready to share, license, or build on.
The collection you were afraid to lose becomes one that's safe, useful, and finally working for you.
Many services, especially with family collections, hand back a single compressed file and never mention what it means: much of the original quality is quietly thrown away, and it can't be brought back. We don't work that way.
We capture your collection at full master quality, the professional archival standard the industry trusts, so you keep a true and complete record. It's the only version that lets you do more later. As enhancement and restoration technology keeps improving, it can elevate a true master, never a copy that has already lost its detail.
We know what it means to be trusted with this.
You're not holding a pile of old tapes. You're holding work and history that can't be remade, and the fear of handing it to the wrong hands is real. We understand, because for more than 30 years we've been the preservation partner behind the collections of major record companies, world-class artists, and people who value their legacy as much as you do.

No two collections are the same. So we never start with "digitize some tapes." We start with a conversation, then build everything around you. Artists, families, and legacies trust us with what can never be replaced, not because we're the biggest, but because we treat what's yours the way you would, knowing it may be the only chance to save it.

Questions, answered.
What happens when I request an assessment?
You tell us a little about what you have. We follow up personally to understand your collection and what you want from it, then give you a straight read on what's at risk and what it would take to preserve and use it. No cost, no obligation.
What makes Encanta different from a digitizing service?
We didn't start as a digitizing shop. For more than 30 years, record labels and world-class artists trusted Encanta to handle and protect their master content, and a copy is only ever as good as the master behind it. That same discipline goes into your collection: digitized to master standard, checked by hand, never run through in a batch. See where that comes from →
How do I know my tapes are actually at risk?
Most decline is invisible until it's too late. The tape looks fine in the box. Age, format, and how they've been stored all affect how fast they're breaking down, and the machines that can still play them are disappearing. The free assessment tells you exactly where you stand.
What kinds of collections do you work with?
Anyone holding material that can't be replaced: record labels, artists and estates, public figures, brands with decades of history, and individuals with serious personal or family collections. Video, audio, and film on tape, disc, or reel. If the material matters, it belongs here.
Do you handle 8mm, Super 8, 16mm, or 35mm film?
Yes. Film needs its own kind of care. It shrinks with age, and a single careless pass through a projector or a mailed-off box can damage the only copy that exists. We manage the whole process and work with a dedicated professional film transfer lab, held to the same master standard as everything we do, scanning your film frame by frame in 2K or 4K, not the throwaway quality of a consumer service. Magnetic sound is captured where present. Explore Film Transfer →
Why don't you list prices?
Because no two collections are the same. What you need depends on what you have, its condition, and what you want to do with it. We'd rather understand that first and give you a straight answer than sell you a number that doesn't fit. That's what the free assessment is for.
How does your pricing work?
You pay for what's on the tape, not for the plastic. Most services charge one flat price per tape whether it holds two minutes or two hours. We charge by the minute we actually digitize, with a small setup charge per item and a flat cap so a long tape is never punished for its length. If we can't recover something, you don't pay for it. And because we can't know a tape's true length until we digitize it, your estimate is a ceiling, not a quote: the most it can cost, and usually less.
Isn't digitizing just running a tape through a machine?
That's exactly the problem. Done carelessly, it permanently strips quality your tape still has, and you only get one clean pass. We digitize to master standard and check every tape by hand, because a copy is only ever as good as the master behind it. Then we help you actually use what we recover.
Is my material kept private?
Always. We routinely handle sensitive and unreleased material, so discretion isn't an add-on. It's the foundation of how we work, and your collection stays in trusted hands from start to finish.
What happens after my tapes are digitized?
That's where most services stop, and we keep going. We set up safe, redundant storage, help you rediscover what's in your collection, and can modernize or repurpose material whenever you're ready to use it.
Do I have to do everything at once?
No. We can start with what's most at risk or most valuable, then work through the rest at a pace that fits you.
Your history is still here.
What you do with it is up to you.
The window is open right now, but it won't stay that way. Tell us what you have, and we'll give you a straight read: what's at risk, what it would take to preserve it at master quality, and how to turn it into something you can use again.
No cost. No obligation. Just a clear picture of where your collection stands.
